Rimage Enhances Medical Imaging Disc Output Systems
Integrating DVD and Blu-Ray duplication for disc output and offline storage with 1.5TB RAID 5
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on April 9, 2008 at 3:34 pmRimage announced a new
model of its widely used Medical Disc Systems for medical imaging
applications in hospitals, clinics and laboratories.
The new Rimage MDS 5300Nx and 5100Nx products integrate DVD and Blu-Ray
disc duplication for disc output and offline storage needs with file
server capabilities of 1.5 Terabyte RAID5 storage. This provides
additional capacity for online storage and retrieval of medical images
and running medical applications without the need for an additional
external computer.
The new products are the perfect platforms for any mini-PACS (picture
archiving and communication systems) applications including
Cardio-PACS, Ortho-PACS or other medical workstation applications.
Users will be able to access and output medical imaging data including
x-rays and scans from a single system. When implemented alongside an
existing PACS, the new Rimage system provides an extra level of
protection from system or disc failures. Integrating both high quality
disc duplication and RAID storage within a single system makes the new
products ideally suited for use within smaller clinics and departments.
Rimage systems are integral to how medical imaging systems are used
everyday worldwide. Major medical imaging system manufacturers are
standardising on Rimage disc publishing systems, while end users are
adding Rimage systems to existing PACS.
Patients increasingly receive X-rays, MRIs and mammograms from digital
machines. Rimage systems record these results onto optical media discs,
which are also printed with indelible, full color images and patient
information. This provides a personalised compact digital record that
is easy, affordable and safe to store and share with the medical team
and the patient.
