DataDirect To Demonstrate Storage Platform Streaming Multiple, Real-Time Uncompressed 4K Content
At 2008 NAB Show
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on April 9, 2008 at 3:34 pmDataDirect Networks, Inc. announced that it is the first
company to enable end-users to stream multiple, uncompressed, real-time
4K content streams from a single, integrated storage platform. This
enables multiple artists and editors to work from a single, centralized
storage platform to perform real-time operations such as ingest, color
grading, dust removal and scaling, simultaneously.
Comparative offerings require multiple, isolated and externally striped
storage systems and a complex array of switches to deliver these
capabilities-posing issues such as key frame drops and content
degradation. DataDirect Networks provides an integrated storage
appliance complete with switching, RAID and caching built-in, including
real-time parity algorithms and Reed-Solomon Parallel RAID processing,
ensuring extreme data integrity, massive throughput and scalable
capacity.
"4K content is here now and only DataDirect Networks enables customers
to stream such massive content from such a small footprint," said Scott
Genereux, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales, Marketing &
Support, DataDirect Networks.
Genereux added, "With DataDirect Networks S2A9900 extreme storage
platform, customers can purchase fewer systems, fewer switches and
utilize significantly less floor space, thereby lowering their capital
and operational investments in their broadcast, post production and
digital intermediate infrastructure. Additionally, companies can take
on an increasing amount of projects and, most importantly, accelerate
overall business productivity."
S2A9900 Global Sales Momentum
The Company also reported that the recently introduced S2A9900 StorageScaler-the
pinnacle of DataDirect Networks S2A technology and the core of its 2008
NAB Show 4K content streaming demonstration-is experiencing rapid sales
growth across the markets that the Company currently serves. Customer
demand for the extreme storage platform-capable of delivering up to
hundreds of gigabytes per second of throughput in a cluster formation
and streaming a multitude of 4K streams concurrently-has enabled the
product to ascend on a rapid sales trajectory that the company expects
will contribute materially to DataDirect Networks’ 2008 business
performance.
