Exinda Pursues WAN Optimization With its v5.0 Firmware
With 1,000 times more hard disk caching capacity
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on April 7, 2008 at 3:27 pmExinda Networks, a provider of wide area network (WAN) optimization solutions, introduced its new v5.0 firmware that will enable the company to be a formidable competitor for providing WAN optimization solutions for the server consolidation, disaster recovery planning (DRP), business continuity planning (BCP) and the data storage and replication markets.
Exinda’s WAN optimization technology is used to improve the speed of applications running on corporate wide area networks (WAN) by classifying, prioritizing and accelerating applications and controlling recreational Internet traffic. Exinda’s new v5.0 firmware provides greater application performance improvement gains and helps to simplify the WAN optimization process.
Exinda’s new v5.0 firmware yields better application performance improvements, particularly for corporate environments involving large files and high speed Internet links. The new capabilities include:
- New hard disk caching with 1,000 times more caching capacity provides improved application performance for end users.
- Stream-based caching, which is more efficient than packet-based caching, greatly reduces repetitive WAN traffic.
"Exinda’s new firmware will give us the application performance boost we need to dramatically improve our data storage and replication process," said Stuart Ekins, information systems manager at Schenker UK. "With its enhanced capabilities, we can significantly reduce the time it takes to transfer files and greatly reduce our monthly communications costs."
Exinda’s New Features Simplify the WAN Optimization Process
Exinda’s v5.0 firmware has two features, Auto Discovery and Jump Start, which simplify the installation process of Exinda appliances to 12 easy steps. Exinda appliances do not use tunneling and are not dependent upon a centralized configuration device. With the new features, Exinda’s appliances automatically discover other Exinda appliances within the corporate WAN and automatically begin optimizing and accelerating traffic via a default configuration. These new features are particularly useful when optimizing a large number of networked sites or when changes are made to the network topology keeping the installation process easy and minimal.
"With our v5.0 firmware, we can help businesses of any size achieve the application performance gains that are typical of a large enterprise environment," said Con Nikolouzakis, chief executive officer of Exinda Networks. "However, Exinda sells its solutions at a price point that is very affordable for small-to-medium businesses. We recognize that this market segment needs effective, affordable solutions that don’t require a great deal of WAN optimization expertise."
General Availability
Exinda’s new v5.0 firmware is generally available for all Exinda appliances as of April 2, 2008. Exinda customers with current software subscription contracts can download the new firmware for free at Exinda Updates.
