SGI Will Sell Spectra Logic Libraries Worldwide

International reseller agreement between the two companies

Spectra Logic announced that SGI will resell Spectra Logic’s T-Series and TranScaleË™ T-Series libraries worldwide. Spectra’s T-series products have been tested and certified as part of SGI solutions offerings, and are installed in a number of customer sites that span the enterprise space, including Crawford Communications, LaserPacific Media Corporation and NASA.

"Our Spectra T950 combined with SGI high performance systems and CXFS shared file system software lets LaserPacific retrieve its digital intermediate data at amazing speeds," said Pavel Dvorak, an engineer for LaserPacific Media Corporation. "The product combination from two innovative corporations offers us top-quality digital asset management."

Broadcast customers like LaserPacfic can take advantage of Spectra Logic’s new Media & Entertainment Storage Calculator, a tool that translates a client’s required number of video hours into storage needs.

"The integration of SGI productivity-enhancing tools, like DMF and CXFS, with Spectra Logic libraries addresses data management needs across our mutual target markets," said Bob Pette, vice president of Professional Services for SGI. "The combined synergy of the two companies’ products and services integrate seamlessly, and offer customers a full suite of storage solutions, as well as consulting, design and project management services for the implementation."

Spectra Logic’s T-series libraries include the entry-level Spectra T50, midrange T120 and the TranScaleable T950, T680, T380 and T200. Spectra Logic will offer the full line of SpectraGuard support worldwide for all customers who purchase Spectra Logic products through SGI.

"SGI and Spectra Logic share a long-term dedicated focus in our joint target markets of Federal, HPC, and Media.  This relationship opens another vehicle for agencies and companies who want to acquire world-class tested storage solutions," said Brian Grainger, VP of Spectra Logic Federal. "Additionally, Spectra Logic will leverage SGI’s technical staff.  SGI not only has expertise to provide design guidance, but SGI employees hold a wide variety of data center security clearances that are beneficial to SGI’s and Spectra’s growth in the Federal market."
