New SANRAD V-Switches
For virtual storage infrastructures, featuring four or eight 4Gb FC ports
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on April 3, 2008 at 3:02 pmSANRAD, Inc. launched a new
generation of V-Switch Intelligent Network Switches, the V-Switch 3440
and the V-Switch 3840.
Designed to enable the cost-effective management
of virtual storage infrastructures, the V-Switch solutions feature an
open, heterogeneous storage networking architecture with enhanced
connectivity and tightly integrated storage virtualization and disaster
recovery to complement virtual server environments. SANRAD’s unique
ability to create virtual machine state-consistent snapshots across
arrays and deliver storage disaster recovery without user intervention
promise true high availability for any enterprise. SANRAD also
introduced a new graphical user interface (GUI) that greatly simplifies
storage management.
"In a recent ESG survey, 71% of current users said that they will
purchase new storage systems in the next 24 months due to the capacity
associated with their virtual server environment," said Mark Bowker,
analyst, Enterprise Strategy Group. "In parallel, IT organizations face
new challenges in protecting their virtualized infrastructure from
application downtime or data loss and finding a solution that can fit
their constrained IT budgets. SANRAD’s V-Switch solutions have been
optimized to work seamlessly with server virtualization to ensure
business continuance and disaster recovery failover protection."
The V-Switch 3440 and V-Switch 3840, with integrated SANRAD Storage
Pro software, are open, scalable solutions that deliver powerful SAN
connectivity and storage management for any physical or virtual server.
Featuring 4 Gig Fibre Channel (FC) ports, the V-Switch 3440 and 3840
deliver comprehensive storage pooling, virtualization and management
services. Global Data Replication (GDR) software can be added to
provide enterprise-class data replication and site recovery between
V-Switch products located at facilities connected by any local
metropolitan or wide-area IP network. The V-Switch 3440 includes 4 FC
ports; the V-Switch 3840 includes 8 FC ports and higher throughput
performance. Both solutions offer advanced features, including
redundant hot-swap power supplies, compact flash, and built-in robust
storage management and virtualization services.
SANRAD’s new StoragePro GUI, integrated with the V-Switch product
family, includes an intuitive top-down menu where key tasks such as
volume creation, global data replication, and data migration can be
easily performed in a single step. StoragePro also includes new
enhancements to complement the benefits of server virtualization, such
as virtual machine disaster recovery without user intervention and
optimizing virtual snapshots for a virtual server environment.
Economical Solution, Extends Data Protection and Migration
"SANRAD gives enterprise IT managers an economical solution that
extends centralized data protection and access across the entire
organization," said Dave DuPont, CEO, SANRAD. "The new V-Switch 3440
and 3840 extend SANRAD’s proven IP storage networking product line,
offer improved usability and support the fastest disk arrays. They
provide enterprise-class storage management and high availability at a
fraction the cost of competing solutions, and are a perfect complement
to virtual server environments."
The V-Switch 3440 and 3840 deliver the following key benefits:
- Cost-effective Storage Consolidation —
SANRAD’s open network architecture provides storage-agnostic support
for any storage device and enables any storage to be centrally managed
as part of a virtual storage pool. - Seamless Enterprise-Class Disaster Recovery
— SANRAD ensures business continuity through active/active clustering,
automated failover, mirroring, cloning, and synchronous or asynchronous
replication across LANs, MANs and WANs. - Integrated High Availability for Virtual Server environments
— SANRAD ensures a complete high availability solution that spans
servers and storage. The integrated solution provides a complete metro
cluster that assures immediate recovery of virtual machines and storage
even with complete site failures and without the need for IT
intervention or reconfiguration. - Optimized Storage Virtualization — V-Switch solutions provide storage virtualization optimized to complement any server virtualization environment.
- Easy iSCSI to Fibre Channel SAN
— V-Switch solutions offer iSCSI to Fibre Channel protocol conversion
to easily and economically manage FC SAN storage for hundreds of iSCSI
attached servers. - Non-Disruptive Data Protection and Migration
— SANRAD’s open architecture enables migration of data from any storage
array to any other storage array in real time while keeping business
applications running.
"Disaster recovery and virtualization are a critical part of our
overall IT strategy," said Victor Rodriguez, IT administrator of
Valmesa. "As one of the largest property and asset valuation companies
in Spain, we needed to replicate our data and services to a remote data
center in order to start our core services in four hours or less in
case of a disaster in our main data center. We also needed a solution
that would be resilient to transient network failures in the
replication path and that would give us the ability to create a
flexible virtual storage and server infrastructure with 24×7 uptime.
SANRAD clearly offered the best disaster recovery and virtualization
solution."
The SANRAD V-Switch 3440 is available this month and V-Switch 3840
will be available in June through SANRAD’s global network of channel
and technology partners.
