DataCore Signs Partner TelosIT
For a new solution combining DataCore, Virtual Iron and Quest
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 24, 2008 at 3:30 pm
DataCore Software has become the storage virtualization vendor of choice for newly signed partner TelosIT, Inc. The staff at TelosIT is convinced that the right way for customers to go is to go virtual because for them the key elements of virtualization are now available – virtual servers, virtual desktops and virtual storage. TelosIT delivers virtualization solutions from Virtual Iron, from DataCore Software and from Provision Networks (now Quest). “We at TelosIT stress that the propagation of physical servers should be minimized and we have fully embraced virtualization as the future,” said Kevin Carlson, CTO, TelosIT, Inc. “Everything we do is focused on making it easy for customers to ‘go virtual’ so that they can realize the benefits inherent to a virtualized infrastructure. From the time we first meet up with a new customer, we highlight the advantages and help them get on the right path to more cost-effective and flexible IT by going virtual.”
New customer spotlight: Trading Places
In a related announcement, TelosIT has deployed a virtualized infrastructure at resort property management company Trading Places whereby Virtual Iron and DataCore SANmelody work in tandem to deliver a high performance solution. At Trading Places, DataCore’s SANmelody consolidates and manages the back-end data infrastructure, speeds applications and ensures data protection and improved up-time. “We needed virtualization for flexibility and to consolidate servers and our growth of storage, however, we couldn’t afford to compromise the performance or our need to protect the data and avoid downtime,” said Christopher Cunningham, IT manager, Trading Places. “DataCore works hand-in-hand with Virtual Iron and it delivers the high speed storage performance that we need to do our business.”
Knowing a good thing when they see it – TelosIT embraces SANmelody
TelosIT is a success story in itself of just what SANmelody can do in terms of serving as a high-speed, virtual infrastructure SAN solution – delivering the redundancy required for a mission-critical environment. Notably, TelosIT uses SANmelody for its own virtual infrastructure. The company has its voice mail system running on DataCore through Virtual Iron. DataCore’s SANmelody also hosts TelosIT’s massive SQL server system, again running on Virtual Iron. Over 1,000 machines check into this SQL system and do so every 30 seconds. With approx 30,000 transactions per minute (at peak times), disk I/O and a high CPU utilization cannot be a factor. “We are a company that depends on our IT infrastructure to automate what we can and reduce manual steps and process inefficiencies, otherwise we don’t make any money,” noted Carlson. “Everything we do is completely automated in some fashion or another.”
Virtualization Momentum
In addition to Trading Places, TelosIT has also just signed Matrix Design Group as yet another SANmelody customer. This partner also has a number of projects in its growing virtualization pipeline.
