While Maximum Throughput is best known for Sledgehammer-its powerful flagship storage system used by such high-profile customers as CBS, FOX News, NBC, ABC, HSN, RTE, and the BBC-NAB 2008 marks the first time the company is offering editing solutions. Maximum Throughput will conduct demonstrations of this innovative Web-based editing service at NAB Booth #SL11711.
With MAXedit Web Edition, freelance and station-affiliated TV journalists and videographers reporting from the field have a simple, streamlined editing solution that’s readily accessible whenever and wherever they need to work. Since MAXedit Web Edition is a subscription-based online service, customers can upload their SD or HD content-including HDV, DVCPRO, MPEG-2, and H.264 formats-to the online server and edit it and share it with other editors via a Web browser interface.
"MAXedit’s adaptive streaming technology assures editors that they’re always editing their content with frame-accurate, realtime creative control," said Giovanni Tagliamonti, chief executive officer for Maximum Throughput, Inc. "Because the editing is executed on the online server, editors are free to use inexpensive, standard PCs or laptops in their studios or in the field," said Tagliamonti." By eliminating the need for expensive, high-powered NLE workstations, storage systems, and LANs, MAXedit Web Edition offers customers dramatic operational savings without compromising high-quality production standards.
"The MAXedit Web Edition combines the rich editing toolset and interactive user experience that people expect from a NLE workstation with the ubiquitous access and sharing they expect from a Web application," added Tagliamonti. "Customers don’t need to purchase, install, or maintain their own high-end editing infrastructure because the service provides everything they need."
At NAB, Maximum Throughput will also introduce MAXedit Server Edition, a cost-effective, server-based workgroup editing solution for editing uncompressed and compressed multi-resolution content. It allows multiple editors to edit content from a single server in their facility using standard PCs, low-cost MAXedit Server software, and a Web browser without taxing their LAN’s bandwidth. MAXedit Server Edition is well-suited to the collaborative workflow of today’s fast-paced TV newsrooms.
