AMCC/3ware Shows Advances in RAID Controllers at CeBIT
SAS and SATA RAID controller families in both PC and Apple MAC environments
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 4, 2008 at 4:07 pmApplied Micro Circuits Corporation will showcase recent advances in the industry’s broadest offering of serial RAID controllers in their 3ware booth in Hall 2, Stand E40, Booth A5 at CeBIT, the world’s largest digital IT and telecommunications trade fair.
AMCC will demonstrate award-winning SAS and SATA 3ware RAID controller families in both PC and Apple MAC environments. Visitors to the 3ware booth will see SAS and SATA RAID product demonstrations that highlight AMCC’s dedication to deliver controllers optimised specifically for each interface technology.
Three in-booth product demonstrations will spotlight 3ware’s capacity for providing hardware RAID controllers for unmatched performance and data protection to storage environments from the desktop to the data center. The first will show VMware support on a 3ware 9690SA SAS/SATA controller in a Supermicro enclosure using an LSI SAS expander to demonstrate robust SAS compatibility and support for virtualisation and server consolidation.
Advanced Content Streaming (ACS), a new 3ware performance feature, will be demonstrated on a 3ware 9650SE SATA II RAID controller in an AIC SATA enclosure. This second product demonstration will underscore the continual advances in 3ware RAID performance technology. The new advanced caching algorithms will substantially enhance performance in many vertical applications that stream sequential data, such as video playback and editing.
The third demonstration will feature both a 3ware 9690SA SAS and a 3ware 9650SE SATA controller installed in an Apple Mac Pro. The SATA controller will be connected to the 3ware Sidecar, an external hardware RAID storage desktop box, to demonstrate newly announced Mac OS X Leopard® and Apple Time Machine support. The installed SAS controller will be attached to a Xyratex 1220 SAS enclosure with a Vitesse® SAS expander and 12 SAS drives to highlight expanded Apple support with 3ware SAS controllers.
