LSI MegaRAID Adapter in the Channel

MegaRAID SAS/SATA adapters based on the high-performance LSI SAS1078
RAID on Chip (ROC). These new adapters leverage the industry’s smallest
standard PCI Express MD2 form factor, providing a perfect fit for 1U and 2U
servers and space-limited storage environments.

to contain real estate and energy costs," said Tom Kodet, worldwide channel
marketing manager, LSI. "As IT managers work within these confines, they can
still deploy the industry’s leading RAID technology as LSI delivers MegaRAID
adapters in a form fact that will fit any server. This is the latest step in
our continued efforts to provide the channel with a SAS/SATA RAID portfolio
that will meet the requirements of any situation."
The new additions to the LSI MegaRAID family include the MegaRAID SAS
8708EM2 and MegaRAID SAS 8704EM2 models from its value line segment. These
value line adapters provide inside-the-box connectivity for systems using
either SATA or SAS hard drives. These new adapters are ideal for traditional
server applications, such as databases and email.
With a smaller MD2 form factor than the previous low-profile models, the
new MegaRAID adapters provide channel customers with form-fit-function
replacements. The 8704EM2 and 8708EM2 feature 4 and 8 internal-connect
SAS/SATA ports respectively, while the 8880EM2 offers eight external-connect
SAS/SATA ports. All of the new adapters offer RAID 6 protection to overcome
simultaneous drive failures or an uncorrectable error while rebuilding in
degraded mode. These new adapters also include battery backup options to
protect the integrity of cached data.
LSI storage adapter products are supplied in the channel in North America
through distribution partners including Arrow Electronics, ASI, Bell
Microproducts, Ingram Micro, and Microland Electronics. LSI products also are
