Powerfile Debuts New Storage Appliance: Archive Facilitator

PowerFile Inc. introduced the Archive Facilitator, a turnkey appliance that simplifies archive by automatically discovering, classifying and moving fixed content to the Active Archive Appliance (A3), thereby freeing up capacity on expensive primary storage and significantly reducing backup burdens.

Unstructured data represents 70 percent of the information being stored on expensive primary storage and up to 80 percent of that data has not been accessed or modified in more than a year. As a result, organizations are increasingly turning to active archiving to better align data with storage based on business value.  PowerFile’s Archive Facilitator greatly simplifies archive by offering a non-disruptive approach for discovery of fixed content on primary storage that does not require installing agents and is fully integrated with NetApp devices using File Policy mechanisms and EMC Celerra devices using the Celerra FileMover API.
