C2C Extends Archive One Software

To aid with corporate governance and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure conformance

C2C announced an enhanced version of its award-winning Archive One software, adding new features to aid with corporate governance and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure conformance.

Archive One includes the addition of new and powerful compliance and policy management capabilities to give administrators the ability to more easily identify and secure data that is, or may be, essential to internal or external legal requirements. FRCP legislation requires organizations to pay attention to e-discovery issues and to have an email governance system in place to respond effectively when called upon for legal processes. Failure to do so can lead to legal sanctions and spoliation where the judge tells the jury that the company cannot produce potentially damaging evidence and leaves it up to the jury to draw its own inferences and impose any financial damages.

The increase in litigation requiring supporting email evidence has put further demands on email administration, and because FRCP rules do not mandate specific records management requirements, there can be a lack of clarity and certainty in how to meet them,” says Dave Hunt, C2C CEO. “Email records can play a critical role in proving a company’s legal position in many instances, such as internal evidence when handling a customer complaint, an internal HR issue, or when demanded under a civil or legal requirement for a matter that has gone beyond the bounds of internal resolution.”

Archive One helps companies quickly and simply comply with these requests for evidence, and protects them from potentially crippling legal judgments for non-compliance. The enhancements enable companies to identify the emails that relate to each complaint or investigation and to ensure they will not be deleted before the issue is resolved.

Archive One operates to place items automatically or manually into a ‘legal hold’ state. Because in some cases an email that is necessary to an external investigation will also be the focus of one or more different internal investigation or inquiries, each with its own demands for retention, Archive One permits any item to have multiple holds associated with it, allowing a single item to be treated as potential evidence in different internal and external investigations. In addition, reviewer’s notes can also be associated with items to aid HR or legal experts during their investigations.

C2C has also extended the search capabilities of Archive One by providing a ‘Federated Search Connector’ (FSC). This integrates with Microsoft Search Server, SharePoint MOSS 2007 and Internet Explorer ‘custom search providers’ and supports the OpenSearch V1.1 standard offering. Archive One FSC allows an authenticated user of Microsoft Search Server secure access to vast amount of data held in the email archive and to have a single point of search to improve their productivity.

Archive One 5.4 will be available in March 2007 with pricing starting at $20 per Mailbox.
