1-800-FLOWERS.COM Relies on EMC

With five 5 Symmetrix, 15 CLARiiON and one Celerra, for a total 70TB capacity

EMC Corporation announced that 1-800-FLOWERS.COM, Inc.,
the world’s largest florist and a leading multi-channel retailer,
relies on its EMC information infrastructure to maximize customer
information availability and lower its total cost of ownership.

"Like our customers, we demand fast and reliable
service
," said Steve Bozzo, 1-800-FLOWERS.COM’s Chief Information
Officer. "We need to be able to quickly bring in data and keep it
available and accessible for all our mission critical customer-facing,
financial, inventory, fulfillment and analytical applications. Our EMC
information infrastructure allows us to accomplish this while improving
storage utilization, performance and reliability
."

For more than 30 years, 1-800-FLOWERS.COM has
provided customers around the world with the freshest flowers and
finest selection of plants, gift baskets, gourmet foods, confections
and plush stuffed animals perfect for every occasion. To manage
critical customer information, 1-800-FLOWERS.COM chose EMC as a
strategic partner and the premier provider for its robust storage
environment.

"We have a very complex environment with many brands
and many types of data
," said Bozzo. "Consequently, we needed to
consolidate our IT footprint and get more out of our current
infrastructure to better manage data and allow us to have more
availability for our data.
"

The company’s three production storage area networks
(SANs) in the United States include five EMC Symmetrix and 15 EMC
CLARiiON networked storage systems, which are optimized using EMC
ControlCenter storage resource management software.
1-800-FLOWERS.COM also uses EMC TimeFinder to locally replicate
information to support its business continuity strategy, increase
application availability and reduce scheduled downtime. Additionally,
1-800-FLOWERS.COM recently purchased an EMC Celerra NS350 integrated
system to support its IP-based information lifecycle management (ILM)
strategy. This will offer IT more flexibility and manageability.

"We built the foundation of our information
infrastructure with EMC networked storage and have expanded as we’ve
grown the business,
" said Bozzo. "Today, we not only have a stable,
reliable 70 terabyte system, but we have an infrastructure that
delivers tremendous value and helps IT actually speed and streamline —
not impede — business operations.
