Transcend’s
global sales revenue for the month of January totaled US$93.51 million,
up 18.1% from US$79.2 million in December 2007. Last month, the average
unit price of DDR2 memory increased due to fluctuations in DRAM prices.
At the same time, overall market demand for Flash products also saw a
significant increase during the long Chinese New Year vacation. As a
result Transcend enjoyed substantial sales revenue growth in January.
With
regard to Transcend’s product shipment breakdown for the month of
January, flash memory products contributed to 54.7% of sales and DRAM
modules equaled 37.5%. In addition, new product lines including MP3
players, portable hard disk drives and digital photo frames amounted to
7.8% of the company’s total sales revenue. These new product lines are
expected to be the driving force to promote sales growth in the future.
January’s total shipment reached a record breaking
total of 6.5 million pieces, which is an increase of 80% compared to
the same figure in January 2007. The major contributors to this total
were flash-based products, of which five million units were shipped.
Shipments of DRAM-based products remained steady, while shipments of
new product lines enjoyed a growth rate of 100%. Among the newer
products, 60,000 portable hard disk drives and 90,000 card readers were
shipped.
