Concurrent Offers Storage Solution for HPC

StorageMaster addresses the niche areas of the storage market that require very high-speed storage and retrieval, critical data I/O capability and advanced data prioritization.

Concurrent, in on-demand and real-time computing technology, announced the launch of a new product line providing advanced storage solutions to the ultra-high performance segment of the general storage market. Concurrent’s StorageMaster line will address the niche areas of the storage market that require very high-speed storage and retrieval, critical data I/O capability and advanced data prioritization. The new products feature unique strengths from both Concurrent’s on-demand and real-time product lines.

Concurrent has a long history of serving customers in critical applications,” stated Gary Trimm, president and chief executive officer, Concurrent. “StorageMaster leverages our RedHawk real-time operating system, content management expertise and data analysis and reporting skills, allowing us to expand into the high performance niche of the general storage market.”  The first two products to be launched under the StorageMaster nomenclature will be a regional file server (RFS) and a general purpose storage product.

The StorageMaster RFS will allow service providers to centrally house and rapidly transport specific content to remote locations, even down to the node level.  The product will be capable of supporting simultaneous data requests from any vendor’s edge server or appliance, enabling the creation of highly-diverse, multi-vendor architectures. Content will be stored in a non-proprietary file format and, when requested, will be transported faster than real-time (up to 30 Mbps), enabling the creation of regional or national content libraries. The StorageMaster RFS will be NGOD and ISA 1.5 compliant. The general purpose content storage product will provide scalable, high-density storage for a wide variety of video and non-video applications.

Concurrent’s on-demand platforms must store and stream thousands of hours of video content for hundreds of thousands of end-users, but, in the end, you are still dealing with digital data,” explains Bob Chism, Concurrent’s chief technical officer. “We will launch StorageMaster within the cable community first; we know those customers well and have the sales infrastructure in place to specifically target them. Our plan is to next adapt the content storage product to provide versatile, scalable, high-density storage products for that portion of the IT market handling critical data, with a need for resiliency and fast storage and retrieval.”
