Isilon Interoperable With Cisco WAAS

Joint testing demonstrates 65X faster data replication times

Isilon Systems announced that
Isilon’s new X-Series clustered storage systems have been certified by
Cisco as having passed laboratory tests for interoperability with
Cisco’s Wide Area Application Services (WAAS) solution. These two
solutions help enable enterprises to lower costs by consolidating
server and storage resources into central management points.
Additionally, the solutions help customers transform their data centers
into next-generation, virtual environments to improve the efficiency of
their data center resources and increase business productivity.

After joint testing, Isilon’s X-Series clustered storage systems
running with Cisco’s WAAS version 4.0 solution performed data
replication tasks 65 times faster over the tested Wide Area Network
(WAN) while reducing bandwidth utilization by 98.4 percent.

"Time is money. By accelerating and streamlining daily data
replications, customers can save valuable time while improving business
continuance and agility
," said Mark Weiner, Director of Product
Marketing for Data Center Solutions at Cisco. "Cisco WAAS optimizes
transport across the wide-area network for Isilon’s new X-Series
clustered storage systems, helping customers conduct large-scale
storage consolidation with superb data replication performance across
the enterprise.
"

"Advanced clustered storage and WAN Optimization solutions are no
longer luxuries – they are necessities in creating truly
next-generation, virtualized data centers
," said Ashish Bhargava,
Director of Business Development, Isilon Systems. "Enterprises must
consolidate IT infrastructure and better maximize resources to keep
pace with the rapid changes in today’s global economy. By deploying
Isilon’s X-Series with Cisco’s WAAS, customers can now take full
advantage of the latest storage and networking advancements to optimize
application performance, efficiency and collaboration, all while
reducing cost and complexity
