TrekStor: 1.8-inch DataStation

TrekStor has launched a
pocket-size hard disk with up to 120 Gigabytes (GB) of storage
capacity. The DataStation microdisk, measures just 9.0 x 5.7 x 0.64 cm
and is available with 20, 80 or 120 GB of storage capacity. The 1.8”
hard disk does not need an external power supply, comes delivered with
software for easy backups and can be password protected.

“We’re living in an ever more mobile world where we’re continually on
the road and a home office is no longer a rarity. Naturally we want to
offer our customers a simple solution for conveniently transferring
data,” said TrekStor chief executive, Daniel Szmigiel. “That’s why
we’ve now developed our first micro hard disk. It’s barely larger than
a credit card and can be taken anywhere without being a burden. It’s
the perfect storage device for our mobile generation.”

The small dimensions and low weight of between 65 and 75 grams allow
important data to be transported effortlessly. Business data, favorite
pictures, music files or travel videos can be saved to the hard disk
easily at work or at a home PC. The DataStation microdisk comes in a
high–quality aluminum case, has low power consumption and runs quietly.
It is pre-formatted for immediate deployment and the high–speed USB
2.0-interface – which is compatible with USB 1.1 – provides high speed
data transfer rates.

The DataStation microdisk comes with backup software, Nero BackItUp2,
which allows users to save individual files or entire drives
immediately at the press of a button. The software reduces the
backed–up data by compressing it on the fly (i.e. writing without data
buffering). If required, the backed–up data can also be password
protected to prevent unauthorized access.

Price and availability
The DataStation microdisk is delivered with Nero BackItUp 2 Essentials,
a USB 2.0 cable [(Mini-US-B (male) / USB-A (male)], a software-CD and
user manual. The recommended retail prices are £69 (20 GB), £119 (80GB)
and £149 (120 GB).
