31GB 2.5-Inch Flash Disk for IBM BladeCenter
Flash memories entering in all computer architectures
By Jean Jacques Maleval | January 15, 2008 at 6:11 pmFor its BladeCenter, IBM has just introduced the next capacity of a solid state drive
(SSD).
This new drive brings solid state reliability and low-power capabilities
to on-blade storage. This new option will be available as a single
2.5-inch 2-watt 31.4 GB drive.
Key features
- Low-power requirements: At 2 watts per drive, the client can better
manage the power envelope of the datacenter. - Uptime is up to three times that of conventional hard drives without
compromising application performance or availability. - Durability helps withstand challenging environmental conditions.
- This drive is ideal for local boot usage and Web serving applications,
and in environments where application data is accessed in external
storage. - Formatted capacity: 31,400 MB
- Drive to host interface that supports 1.5 Gb/s burst rate
- Internal transfer read rate: 67 MB/s
- Internal transfer write rate : 47 MB/s
- Random read (4K blocks): > 5000 IOPS
- No moving parts reduces potential failure points in the blade server.
-
SATA compliance enables the drive to connect directly into
BladeCenter. -
S.M.A.R.T. Technology allows software utilities to alert you of certain
impending drive failures so replacements can be made before a problem
occurs. -
Rigorous testing through the ServerProven program instills confidence
that your storage subsystem3 is compatible and will function reliably. - The drive comes with a one-year, limited warranty.
