Alert Logic Picks 3PAR Utility Storage

3PAR
announced today that Alert Logic, Inc., an industry’s provider
of on-demand IT compliance and security solutions, has chosen 3PAR
Utility Storage to consolidate and scale its mission-critical hosted
software-as-a-service (SaaS) environment. Alert Logic selected two 3PAR
InServ S800 Storage Servers for their high availability, seamless
scalability, and ease of use.

"3PAR Utility Storage
offers the most stable blend of innovative features available today,"
said Misha Govshteyn, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer at Alert
Logic. "But what really sets the InServ apart is the highly virtualized
architecture, which actually improves performance as the system scales.

Based
on its rigorous evaluation of storage systems, Alert Logic concluded
that 3PAR reduces storage administration overhead by a 2-to-1 ratio as
compared to other platforms. As Alert Logic scales its 3PAR Utility
Storage system to meet growing capacity requirements, Govshteyn intends
to manage a full petabyte of capacity with a single storage
administrator.

In addition, according to Govshteyn,
3PAR was the only vendor with a storage platform that could be
installed—including LUN provisioning—in a total time of less than eight
hours. Platforms from other vendors required days.

Alert Logic has also been able to reduce capacity costs by leveraging
3PAR’s Fast RAID 5 technology for all of its applications, including
its most demanding high-transaction MySQL databases. According to
Govshteyn, Alert Logic chose to deploy 3PAR’s Fast RAID 5 because it
delivers high performance comparable to that of traditional RAID 1
mirroring, yet with a significant improvement in storage utilization.
