Intel: a Flash Disk Smaller Than a Penny

The Intel Z-P140 PATA Solid State Drive is an ultra-small, complete storage solution for mobile, digital entertainment, and embedded applications, offering low-power, high performance, and durability. Using the industry standard PATA interface, it offers the capacity and features to accelerate computing trends towards greater mobility.
Specifically designed for small form factor requirements, the device is small and lighter than a coin, the ideal solution to meet the next generation of ultramobile computing.

Using the standard PATA interface, chipscale package-on-package technology, and a form factor
significantly smaller than hard disk drives, the Z-P140 PATA SSD enables smaller and easier storage design, with capacities of

Intel is finally becoming serious in flash drive to compete with SanDisk, Samsung and the others with this Z-P140 PATA Solid State Drive for the ultramobile PC market and the Intel's Menlow platform. It is the smallest one never seen, only 12 x 18 x 1.8mm and 0.6 grams, even if it has only parallel interface, small capacity (4GB) and relatively low read and write specs.

This year, the chip maker launched its first SSD drive, the Z-U130, not really impressive (1 to 8GB, 28MB/s in write, 20 MB/s in read).
