Samsung Launches “microsite”, to Stay Up-to-Date on SSDs

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.has launched its SSD microsite, which is
designed to help visitors stay up-to-date on SSD technology. The site is an educational resource that offers tools for comparing SSD
technology against traditional hard drive solutions as well as
highlighting the latest SSD news articles, white papers, where to buy,
and upcoming events.

The SSD microsite presents a new and engaging
way to help users learn about the benefits and advantages of SSD
technology in corporate and high-end consumer notebooks,

said Jim Elliott, director of flash marketing, Samsung Semiconductor
Inc. The site features a video that compares
many of the key performance metrics between a laptop with SSD versus a
laptop with a traditional hard drive.

The microsite explains the Total Cost of
Ownership (TCO) concept that takes into account the cost of owning a PC
over its complete lifecycle. In addition to the purchase of a PC, the
cost-based analysis focuses on the direct and indirect costs related to
the repairs, support, and performance of a PC. The unique "SSD Savings
Calculator" feature provides an interactive calculation table for the
visitor to input their PC information to determine their SSD-over-HDD
financial savings. (Link: http://www.samsungssd.com/do_the_math/tco.aspx)

An industry leader in solid state technology, Samsung introduced its
first 32GB PATA SSD in March 2006, followed by a 64GB version using the
SATA I interface in March of this year. In November 2007, Samsung became
the first in the industry to sample 1.8-inch and 2.5-inch 64GB SATA II
SSDs.
