Toshiba Adds 80GB Automotive Hard Disk Drives

Since 2001, it’s the sixth generation of HDDs from Toshiba designed especially for automotive applications. The manufacturer claims to have shipped seven million of this devices, being the leader in this market. Seagate and Hitachi GST also offer units for the same industry sector.

The new hrd disk drives are single platter 2.5-inch 40GB (MK4050) or 80GB (MK8050) drives rotating at 4,200rpm with an altitude specification of 5,500 meters and a minimum operating shock of 100G.
