Visara Adding VI-7700 Open Systems Storage Array

Visara International announces the VI-7700 Open Systems storage array, a redundant storage architecture with multiple high speed access options.

The VI-7700 offers up to 2.2PB in a single 2-meter 19″ rack. Additional storage racks can be integrated  as storage requirements increase.

All Visara storage products utilize RAID-6 technology for data integrity with automatic failover to spare storage disks. Individual modules in the system may be updated or replaced as needed without interrupting operations. Performance replication to DR sites, reliability and dynamic expandability in the multi-petabyte environment makes it an solution for enterprise storage applications.

The VI-7700 joins company’s existing family of mainframe storage products: the VI-5990A appliance, VI-5990L library, and the VI-7755 mainframe storage array. These products provide virtual tape solutions for mainframe systems, allowing users to replace existing ‘Real Tape’ and tape libraries with efficient disk based virtual storage. All mainframe storage products emulate multiple 3490/3590 tape drives and provide multiple FICON channel interfaces as well as internal storage and the ability to connect to external SAN networks. Redundancy is achieved via multiple controller options that allow seamless failover in the event of component failure, resulting in no loss of performance or data.

Management of Visara storage products is accomplished via a network browser connection. Configuration changes to the VI-7700 can be made dynamically, thus eliminating the need to schedule change management downtime.
