Panzura Controllers Doubling Flash With Side of Metadata

Panzura, Inc. introduced a line of Cloud Controllers with double the amount of flash storage and significant reductions in the amount of file metadata needed to keep the same cross-site collaboration performance that is the hallmark of Panzura.

Both of these advancements increase the total amount of storage capacity that can be cached at each customer location, and also maximize the efficiency of the metadata in flash storage that is required to make cloud storage act and feel like a local file system.

Companies of all sizes would like to take advantage of the economics and scale of cloud storage, but cannot sacrifice the performance and speed of a local file system. To make cloud storage act and feel like a local file system, local data must be cached at each location and file metadata from the entire file system needs to be stored in flash at each location. Doubling the capacity of flash storage in each controller increases the number of files that can be stored locally, reducing the need to download a file from the cloud. The reduction of file metadata needed in flash storage provides more space for local storage while still enabling users to navigate the entire global file system just like all the data was stored locally.

Panzura all flash controllers include the GFS 2801, GFS 2821, GFS 2841, GFS 2881, GFS 4070 and GFS 4090. Panzura also doubled the flash in its hybrid storage controller, the GFS 4050.
