The NV-Series delivers the low latency benefits of NVMe technology to a shared storage environment and enables flash memory via high speed network connections with Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) centrally to attached servers. Supporting the latest 100GbE technology with up to four channels, the NV-Series fits perfectly into 100GbE network environments reducing read latency to 110μs and write latency to 30μs.

The NV-Series makes this storage array portfolio suited for database applications such as OLTP, OLAP, data mining and data warehousing, and for HPC applications, especially for blade server environments and server farms. The connectivity is realized via the latest converged network technology supporting up to 100Gb/s data transfer rates and suitable for industry standard 100GbE switches, such as Mellanox Technologies, Ltd.‘ latest SN2700. More than three million random read IO/s (4K blocks) delivers the low latency benefits of NVMe via RDMA into attached servers.

Developed in cooperation with technology partner Mangstor Inc., the NV-Series is equipped with up to 48TB of high-speed SSD capacity. The multicore platform uses Mangstor NVMe SSDs that are driven by a 100-core DSP and algorithms optimized to deliver leading performance by efficiently managing and scheduling the individual NAND memory cells. This ability to run advanced device control logic on a highly-efficient multicore DSP (rather than on the host server processors) provides a key performance advantage. This innovative offload architecture results in I/O performance with very low and very consistent latency to attached application servers.

Using the latest 100Gb network technology, the connectivity portfolio within our NV-Series is rounded off. Based on customer requests, we can now tailor our solutions with 25, 40, 50, 56Gb and several IB or Ethernet ports,” said Helmut Kopel, CEO, Zstor. “This is needed to bring the NVMe low latency benefits of installed 48TB to a huge number of attached application servers.

To interoperate with leading OSs on attached application servers, company’s NV-Series includes drivers for Windows and Linux OSs. The drivers provide a local block storage interface that enables servers to access storage in block mode or through the file system on the server, bypassing legacy iSCSI or FC storage I/O interfaces. This results in application servers that have the industry’s highest bandwidth and lowest latency SSDs with the cost and efficiency benefits of not having to populate every server with dedicated SSDs.

The NV-Series starts with equipped capacities up to 48TB raw that provides a range from 5.4 up to 32TB net capacity. The 2U rackmount chassis is powered by a high compute multicore platform and depending on the model, the NV-Series varies from two to four high-speed Ethernet or IB ports with up to 56Gb/s data transfer rate per port. A limited five-year hardware warranty is included.
