The IBM System Storage EXP3800 Expansion Unit delivers a balance between high capacity, high performance, and data integrity.

New IBM System Storage EXP3800 SSDs and HDDs with enhanced T10 Protection Information (PI) functionality deliver improved performance-capacity balance for small and midsize business workloads.

The EXP3800 delivers support for the new generation of SSDs and HDDs
with 6Gb SAS interfaces by offering the following options:

  • 800GB SAS 6Gb 2.5-inch SSD
  • 1.6TB SAS 6Gb 2.5-inch SSD
  • 6TB 7,200rpm 6Gb NL-SAS 3.5-inch HDD

These drives provide new high-performance alternatives and T10 PI functionality for the DCS3860 controller and EXP3800 expansion unit.

Key prerequisites
These new SSD and HDD options are supported on their respective EXP3800 expansion enclosure. They require Controller Firmware (CFW) version 8.2. The T10 PI functionality also requires CFW version 8.2.
