IBM TS7650G ProtecTIER Gateway Model DD6

It comprised IBM TS7650G Server combined with IBM ProtecTIER Enterprise Edition software and is designed to address the data protection needs of enterprise data centers. This solution is designed to offer performance, capacity, scalability, and a choice of disk-based targets for backup and archive data.
The TS7650G model DD6, together
with IBM ProtecTIER Enterprise Edition V3.4, introduces:
- A clustered system architecture that integrates both nodes into a single chassis, eliminating the external switches required to cluster previous gateway models
- An integrated service interface, eliminating the need for a separate TS3000 Service Console
- A reduction in the amount of rack space required for ProtecTIER TS7650G gateway systems.
The TS7650G ProtecTIER Deduplication Gateway offers in-line data deduplication powered by HyperFactor technology, multicore virtualization and deduplication, clustering support, FC ports, and flexible storage options.
The gateway is a data protection platform designed to protect business information while reducing the amount of space required to store data. Deploying the TS7650G ProtecTIER Deduplication Gateway can help organizations more efficiently protect corporate data on disk-based storage while helping to manage the exponential growth of new data through the reduction and elimination of duplicate data in their backups.
Key prerequisites
- IBM ProtecTIER Enterprise Edition software is preloaded on TS7650G Model DD6 to create a valid TS7650G ProtecTIER Deduplication Gateway. A separate order for ProtecTIER Enterprise Edition is required.
- When configured as a VTL, the TS7650G requires a standard FC SAN environment. A variety of disk-based storage can be attached to this server gateway.
