IBM Storwize V3700 Disk Array

IBM Storwize V3700 Storage System is a member of the Storwize family of disk systems.

Leveraging Storwize V7000 Storage System and SVC functions, interoperability, and management tools, it storage efficiency with ease of use in an entry disk system to enable organizations to overcome their storage challenges.

Storwize V3700 features two node canisters, with 4GB or 8GB cache per canister, in a 2U, 19-inch rack mount enclosure. 6GB SAS and 1GbE SCSI connectivity is standard, with an option for 8GB FC or 10GBE iSCSI/FCoE connectivity.

Storwize V3700 is available in the following models:

- Storwize V3700 2.5-inch storage controller unit
- Storwize V3700 2.5-inch DC storage controller unit
Expansion units:
- Storwize V3700 3.5-inch storage expansion unit
- Storwize V3700 2.5-inch storage expansion unit
- Storwize V3700 2.5-inch DC storage expansion unit

The 3.5-inch models support up to 12 3.5-inch drives, while the 2.5-inch models support up to 24 2.5-inch drives. Performance HDDs, capacity nearline HDDs, and SSDs are supported. Drives of the same form factor can be intermixed within an enclosure, and 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch expansion units can be intermixed within a Stsystem. It scales up to 240 drives with the attachment of nine Storwize V3700 expansion units.

The 3.5-inch models support A/C power, while the 2.5-inch models are available with either A/C power or D/C power. All Storwize V3700 models conform to applicable NEBS level 3 documents and to applicable ETSI documents.

Storwize V3700 functions, management, and interoperability include:

FlashCopy for creating instant copies of data for backup or application testing
IBM System Storage Easy Tier for automatic migration of frequently accessed data from disk drives to high performing flash drive
Remote mirroring for data replication between systems at different locations through Metro Mirror and Global Mirror functions
One-way data migration for simplified movement of data onto the Storwize V3700
Embedded GUI for management capabilities
Interoperability support with support for most major server platforms and OSs
