Infinit, French Start-Up in File Transfer

Based in Paris, France, and also in New York City, USA, Infinit International Inc. was created in 2012 by two French engineers:

Julien Quintard, CEO and angel investor, was formerly mentor at Le Camping Startup Accelerator, lecturer for École pour l’Informatique et les Techniques Avancées and research student at University of Cambridge, Computer Laboratory.

Baptiste Fradin, COO, was previously research analyst at RFF and MANITOU BF.

At the beginning, the company received an investment of about $500,000 from Alive Ideas and other business angels. In 2014, it was accepted to the Techstars accelerate program in New York City. Shortly thereafter, it received $1.8 million in funding from French VCs Alven Capital and 360 Capital Partners.

The start-up offers two products:

infinit.io
The file transfer application is a simple and fast peer-to-peer file transfer/sharing product, allowing anyone to send any file, of any size, with the insurance of delivery. The native client works under OS X (10.7+), Windows, Gnu/Linux, iOS et Android.

It is free and unlimited as long as you share with other Infinit users for up to 10GB transfer size and 1GB of storage. For $12/user/month, you can get unlimited transfer size and storage of 150GB/user.

There are two ways to send files to non-Infinit users. You can either send files directly to an email address from the app or you can generate a link to any file. The link is automatically copied for you, so that you can then paste it anywhere (email, tweet, forum, etc.).

On Infinit’s mobile apps, you’ll also be able to enter a phone number (including a country code) and an SMS with a link to your shared files will be sent to your recipient.

Files shared with links are not encrypted and are neither private nor public. When you generate a link to a file, you are the only person with the URL. Anyone to whom you share the URL can access the download page for that file.
