These products extend Seagate’s portfolio of flash-based solutions, which are designed to work in conjunction with Seagate storage products to meet nearly any storage need.

For enterprise and cloud end users as well as cloud OEMs and system partners, these new products feature high level of reliability and endurance.

The drives and the accelerator card are best suited for demanding enterprise applications, such as OLTP, high frequency trading, HPC, data warehousing, data mining and data analytics as well as workloads with mixed IO sizes and multiple applications running simultaneously.

The Nytro XF1440 and XM1440 are power efficient, high performance NVMe SSDs available in small (2.5″ and M.2) form factors. Offering a balance of power and performance, these drives are engineered to increase storage density, while reducing the storage footprint and power use in data centers.

The Nytro XP6500 is a PCIe flash accelerator card delivering low write latency within the Nytro product portfolio improving response time in applications requiring high IO/s and bandwidth suitable for a range of workloads.

These new flash products greatly expand the range of our total product portfolio and demonstrate how Seagate’s acquisition of the LSI flash technologies is paying off,” said Brett Pemble, VP of flash products, Seagate cloud systems and electronics solutions. “With these products, Seagate’s commitment to the modern datacenter is clear. The Nytro XF1440/XM1440 SSDs deliver the highest performance in the smallest power envelope. The XP6500 flash accelerator card provides ultra-low latency capability for applications that require fast logging and produce higher transactions per second – something today’s applications demand.”

The integration of flash memory into the enterprise storage market will continue to grow substantially over the next five years,” said Jeff Janukowicz, research director for solid state drives and enabling technologies, IDC. “Companies who can provide a wide array of solutions and storage building blocks, using both flash and magnetic media, will be well positioned to take advantage in this market.

Seagate demonstrated the Nytro XF1440 SSD at the Flash Memory Summit 2015 conference as well as in the NVMe booth. In addition, It will its XM1440 SSDs, Nytro XP6500 Flash Accelerator Card, the SandForce 3500 Client SSD Controller and the (recently announced) 1200.2 SAS SSD. Two live demonstrations featured a 3.2 million IO/s and 20GB/s operating on a 92TB array of Seagate 1200.2 SAS SSDs in a single Seagate OneStor SP3224s 2U enclosure.

Phil Brace, Seagate cloud systems and electronic solutions’ president, presented the keynote address, Flash and HDDs: A Winning Combination for Future Data Centers on August 12th. The presentation addressed the combining of flash memory and HDDs to create an efficient and cost-sensitive data center driven by utilizing existing storage assets and achieving a measurable ROI.

The Nytro XP6500 Flash Accelerator Card is available. The Nytro XF1440 SSD will be released at the end of October and the XM1440 SSD will be available in early 2016.
