Enterprise SSDs From UK Integral Memory and Korean Novachips

UK based Integral Memory plc and Korean flash storage provider Novachips Co., Ltd. have teamed up to develop SSDs that deliver capacity and performance.

The breed of SSD use a storage control architecture that meets the growing need for ‘up-scale’ expansion among enterprise data centres. The launch of their first co-produced product, the SVR-PRO SATA III SSD, heralds a shift to the growth of server rooms across Europe.

At the core of the product is an architecture that releases the capacity restrictions of conventional parallel configurations. As each HyperLink NAND (HLNAND) flash is connected directly to the next device in the loop, effectively each unit of flash is driving a single load, allowing an unlimited number of devices per channel.

“This breakthrough makes ‘scaling-up’ data centres an appealing alternative to ‘scaling-out’ across expensive extra floor-space,” explains Samik Halai, senior product manager, Integral Memory.

The SVR-PRO SATA SSD 100-SRI and 200-SMW models offer up to 8TB of storage and are designed to deliver intensive applications. The 100 SRI series is geared for performance hungry applications and features a balance of low latency and read and write IO/s for video on demand, streaming, web server and file server. The 200 SMW model delivers 11,680TBW, which is for servers that constantly perform mixed workload tasks.
