Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc., Basking Ridge, NJ, has been assigned a patent (9,280,548) developed by Shafiee, Mohammad Reza, Ridgefield, CT, and McLean, Stuart, Land O lakes, FL, for a “storage manager.”

The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: ”A method may include identifying a media file to be retrieved from storage, transmitting a request for information identifying a location of the media file and identifying the location of the media file. The method may also include forwarding the identified location, transmitting a request for the media file and receiving the request for the media file. The method may further include creating a copy of the media file, storing a first virtual location corresponding to a location of the copy and forwarding a message indicating that the identified media file is available for processing.“
