Veeam Supports vSphere 6

Veeam Software, Inc. announced the update to Availability Suite v8, which supports vSphere 6, keeping in the company’s tradition of providing stable and support for each release of vSphere within two months of its availability.

Availability Suite v8 combines backup, restore and replication capabilities of Veeam Backup & Replication with the advanced monitoring, reporting and capacity planning functionality of Veeam ONE to provide everything enterprise IT needs to protect and manage its vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V environments, with recovery time and point objectives of 15 minutes or less for all applications and data.

Highlights of vSphere 6 support in Availability Suite v8 include

Support for VMware Virtual Volumes (VVols) and Virtual SAN (VSAN) 2.0
Storage Policy-Based Management (SPBM) policy backup and restore
Support for backup and replication of Fault Tolerant VMs

Quick migration to VVol datastores
Cross-vCenter vMotion awareness
Hot add transport for SATA virtual disks

This update to Availability Suite v8 is the largest non-version-increasing update in Veeam history, with more than 1,000 change sets applied. In addition to support for vSphere 6, it includes integration with Veeam Endpoint Backup Free, a free product that enables IT to backup Windows-based desktops, laptops and a small number of physical servers.
