Businesses can gain analytics to understand how data is growing and being used across their storage infrastructure and transparently move less active data to secondary storage, saving millions of dollars.

The company is built with today’s businesses in mind and it eliminates the cost, complexity, and invasive management of prior solutions. With no hardware to deploy, no storage agents, no changes to the hot data path, no complex configurations or proprietary interfaces. The solution works across storage environments, both on-premise and cloud. The solution is unique in that it not only understands how data is growing across a customer’s storage, but it also adapts to the specific needs of their storage environment and network. The company has partnerships with EMC Corp., NetApp, Inc., Quantum Corp., Google Cloud Platform, and Amazon Web Services, and its customers include Pacific Biosciences, Inc., Medplast, and Houston Housing Authority.

Our data has been growing at an overwhelming pace, making it difficult and expensive to store and manage,” said Jay Smestad, senior director, IT, Pacific BioSciences. “We’d been searching for an affordable scale-out data management solution that works across our storage, and enables us to move data to where the best service and ROI for the data is, and not where the users put it, but existing solutions are expensive and often create disruption. We don’t have unlimited budgets, so we turned to Komprise and have seen immense benefits from understanding and being able to dynamically place data without any changes to user access. The interface is intuitive and straightforward, making it simple to manage with instantaneous insight.

Komprise is the ‘Mary Poppins’ bag for data. In other words, endless storage you can’t see,” said Krishna Subramanian, COO and co-founder, Komprise. “We enable enterprises to store data transparently that’s instantly available again when they need it, making the most efficient use of the cloud. Komprise offers automatic and seamless placement and management of both on-premise and cloud data across a customer’s entire storage infrastructure. Our solution also also cuts up to 70% of data management and storage costs.

Komprise is taking a truly revolutionary approach to data management,” said Maha Ibrahim, general partner, Canaan Partners. “They have created a data virtualization concept that enables companies to gain a larger span and scale of data, and cut storage and management costs. If there is any team capable of helping enterprises transition to hybrid cloud, it’s this one.

This announcement comes on the heels of company and Quantum’s recent partnership last month. Using firm’s data management, Quantum offers a joint solution to enable businesses to extend storage with Quantum Lattus and Quantum Artico NAS management.

Firm’s founding team has successfully built two prior start-ups to simplify complex IT infrastructures. Their last company, Kaviza, eliminated expensive storage for virtual desktops and drastically simplified deployments with a scale-out solution. The solution was used by thousands of customers and was acquired by Citrix Systems Inc. in 2011.
