Joint Solution Between Maxta and Cumulus Networks

For hyper-convergence architecture built on industry standard hardware

Maxta Ltd announced solutions to enable hyper-convergence for environments built on its software and Cumulus Linux, the OS for open networking from Cumulus Networks, Inc.

This next generation software-defined architecture enables an entire data center to be built using industry-standard hardware to create a simple, cost-effective, yet powerful solution that provides greater platform choice to customers than vendor-locked architectures.

The solution delivers performance for a range of workloads, is easy to manage and scales to meet current and future needs.

By combining Maxta MaxDeploy hyper-converged appliances and industry-standard hardware running Cumulus Linux, IT environments are simplified by eliminating the need for acquiring, maintaining, and managing proprietary hardware for network and storage. Maxta and Cumulus have each developed advanced capabilities that automate and accelerate deployment and provide enterprise-grade redundancy and scalability. The joint solution removes interoperability and performance guesswork, allowing administrators to focus on managing applications in an automated manner rather than having to manage individual infrastructure components.

The solution validation leverages the Cumulus Networks Validated Design Guide for vSphere, which describes use of Cumulus Linux for features including CLAG and VRR. The resulting Maxta solution delivers a simple, agile, flexible, and cost effective hyper-convergence platform for private, hybrid, and public clouds.

Customers can similarly leverage the Cumulus Networks validated design for OpenStack based on Maxta hyper-convergence to deliver a cloud infrastructure on industry-standard platforms without dedicated storage hardware. In those environments where IT must be responsive to business needs, Maxta data resiliency and HA across hyper-converged hosts can ensure 24×7 availability and support critical business data. To facilitate further joint solution efforts, Maxta is now a member of the Cumulus Networks Technology Ecosystem Partner program.

MaxDeploy Appliances and MxSP software solutions provide companies the choice to hyper-converge on standard x86 servers, the ability to run on any compute abstraction layer, and the flexibility to support any combination of storage devices (hybrid and all flash) eliminating the need for complex and expensive storage arrays. The simplicity of Maxta’s VM-centric solutions reduce IT management and lowers cost, all while delivering hyper-scale, enterprise data services and capacity optimization. With Maxta, service providers and enterprise customers can build private and public clouds based on any cloud orchestration software.

Maxta has brought the flexibility to deploy hyper-convergence on any server, any hypervisor and any storage configuration. By combining Maxta MaxDeploy with Cumulus Linux, we have a unique opportunity to build an entire data center leveraging standard hardware with the highest degrees of simplicity, scalability, availability and cost savings, eliminating the need for proprietary storage arrays and network switches,” said Jim Fitzgerald, VP business development and OEM sales, Maxta.

The Maxta hyper-convergence solution with open networking using Cumulus Linux will help customers rapidly scale with improve economics using industry-standard hardware. We’re pleased to welcome Maxta into the Cumulus Networks Technology Ecosystem Partner program to help illustrate the value of simplicity in data center solutions to our joint customers,” said Reza Malekzadeh, VP business, Cumulus.

Rather than being locked into a particular vendor’s storage architecture with the corresponding management curve and associated licensing fees hanging over them, enterprises can benefit from hyper-converged platforms built on non-proprietary hardware to satisfy their storage needs without additional complexity and higher costs. The combination of Maxta Deploy and Cumulus Linux ensures organizations will gain the data center infrastructure efficiencies they need through a vetted and interoperable solution,” said Mark Bowker, senior analyst, Enterprise Strategy Group.
