IBM General Parallel File System x86

IBM General Parallel File System (GPFS) x86 offerings deliver an available, scalable shared file system for clustered x86 systems.

GPFS is a cluster file system designed for high-performance parallel file transfers and parallel I/O to single or multiple files. GPFS delivers reliability, multicluster support, scalability, and performance with automated failure recovery, and decentralized data management for simplifying administration.

Following GPFS products are being made available for ordering by Lenovo  Group, Ltd.‘s clients:

  • GPFS for x86, V3 and V4
  • GPFS for x86 Single Server for Integrated Offerings, V3 and V4
  • GPFS Native RAID for x86 GPFS Storage Server, V4

GPFS provides storage management delivered in software that can be used on selected hardware, with scalability and flash accelerated performance. It offers automatic policy-based storage tiering from flash through disk to tape, helping to reduce cost while improving security and management efficiency in cloud, big data and analytics, and data-intensive technical computing environments.

Licenses for offerings in this announcement may include one, three, or five years of software subscription and sspport with contracts managed in Passport Advantage.

Key prerequisites: Lenovo x86 servers running the Linux or Windows OS.
