Creating copies of data, such as archive copies
By Francis Pelletier | January 2, 2015 at 2:57 pmCommVault Systems, Inc., Oceanport, NJ, has been assigned a patent (8,909,881), developed by Bunte Alan, Monmouth Beach, NJ, Prahlad Anand, Bangalore, India and Brockway Brian, Shrewsbury, NJ, for a “systems and methods for creating copies of data, such as archive copies.”
The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “A system and method of creating archive copies of data sets is described. In some examples, the system creates an archive copy from an original data set. In some examples, the system creates an archive copy when creating a recovery copy for a data set. In some examples, the system creates a copy without redundant data, and then encrypts the data set.“
The patent application was filed on March 5, 2013 (13/785,224).
