Bacula Enterprise Edition 6 for Backup and Restore

Bacula Systems SA Switzerland announced the availability of Bacula Enterprise Edition 6, the latest release of its enterprise-class backup and disaster recovery solution.

Designed to safeguard evolving enterprise architectures, Enterprise Edition 6 delivers the features customers need for physical, virtualized and cloud environments at a fraction of the cost of proprietary vendors.

Enterprise Edition 6 addresses enterprise requirements
with new plug-ins and features including:

• Delta plug-in: Using signature-based file difference, for backing up large binary files with unprecedented efficiency.
• VMware plug-in: Raw level backup via NBD or SAN, removes the necessity to install a File Daemon on each guest. Leveraging VMware’s Changed Block Tracking, size of large backup sets are significantly reduced, easing load on drives and networks.
• SAN Shared Storage plug-in: Optimizes and increases tape library usage by providing shared access to tape drives.
• Microsoft SQL Server VSS plug-in: Performs differential backup and allows restore at the database level
• Microsoft Exchange VSS plug-in: Performs incremental backup and allows restore at the mailbox level
