The d:ternity service transfers data or content (in any format) to the secure d:ternity archiving centre. Following any initial migration, on-going changes to data sources can be automatically sent to the d:ternity archiving centre over the Internet via a secure connection. Data assets can also be recalled from the service through a web portal and sent back to the customer in any format they request.

Companies are creating huge amounts of data that have to be stored according to company management needs, especially for industry compliance requirements. The advent of big data technologies and analytics create demand for these volumes of information across businesses of all types, from media companies through to finance and professional services organisations.

Industry analyst firm Gartner listed the Enterprise Information Archiving market as being worth more than $1.61 billion in 2012, and this will continue to expand at a CAGR of 14.1%.

Developed using our decades of experience with tape media storage, backup and archive, d:ternity offers companies a means of reducing their administrative costs and meeting certified security standards, whilst ensuring that compliance regulations are met in full. Our aim is to take the pain out of archiving across managing formats, keeping archives up to date and recovering data when it is needed,” said Roger Moore, strategic business manager, Fujifilm. “At a time when companies are creating more data than ever, d:ternity provides our customers with a way to future-proof their critical information without any unforeseen or extraordinary costs“.

The d:ternity service is an archiving process that provides management of data from initial audit and concept design through to long-term archive management and retrieval.

This includes:

  • Customer set-up: System configuration, data formats, retention time, backup intervals, and API backups will be performed in consultation with the customer.
  • Media registration: Upon receipt at the certified Fujifilm high security centre, documentation of other data carrier information and generation of metadata is registered.
  • Data carrier analysis, verification and format migration/conversion: The d:ternity service provides a full audit of all storage media, followed by migration and conversion to Fujifilm’s innovative, standardised target format.
  • Secure d:ternity Archiving Centre: Data is stored at secure archiving facility in Kleve, Germany which has ISO 9001 and BSI accreditation.
  • Warehousing of backup copies: backup to d:ternity is held in an ex-military bunker at a remote location, with a security system.
  • Data recall: Provision of archived data can be returned in any desired format.
  • Web portal: Provides administration of data stocks and recall of data (metadata review).
