Geoff Barrall Board’s Director, Imation

Imation Corp. announced that Dr. Geoff Barrall has been appointed to its board of directors, effective December 17, 2014.

  He is the CEO of Connected Data, creator of peer to peer private storage devices.

His understanding of the storage landscape, deep operational experience and previous success with results-driven businesses will prove invaluable for the company moving forwards.“

Barrall, who founded two leading storage companies, has served in his current role since November 2011. Previously, he held senior executive and board positions with Overland Storage, Data Robotics and BlueArc. He was the CTO and VP of engineering of Overland Storage and was the CEO and board member of Drobo, a maker of storage products. In these roles, he contributed to product management, marketing strategies and I.T. initiatives that drove business objectives.

He currently serves as COB of Gridstore, Inc. and he has previously served on the boards of Nevex Virtual Technologies, Inc., Nexsan Corporation (prior to its acquisition by Imation) and Tacit Networks, Inc.

He holds a BSc and Ph.D. in Cybernetics, both from the University of Reading, UK.
