Interim GM Greg Lotkowill becoming VP development for storage

ibm,walshIBM Corp. appointed Edward J. Walsh as GM for IBM storage and software-defined infrastructure, part of the company’s systems unit.  

 

 

 

He will begin at on July 11.

In this new role he is responsible for all facets of the storage business including strategy, architecture, operations, technology development and overall financial performance.

He has more than 25 years of senior level management experience with public, private and venture backed firms in the storage industry. He has held leadership roles at both EMC and IBM. From 2010-2013, he led marketing and strategy for IBM storage, and from 2006-2007 he was a GM at EMC focused on storage backup and recovery. He was previously CEO of Catalogic Software, a data protection and copy data management company. In addition to Catalogic Software, he has served as CEO of three other storage companies: Storwize, acquired by IBM in 2010; Virtual Iron, acquired by Oracle in 2009; and Avamar, acquired by EMC in 2006. In 1989, he co-founded Articulent, a systems integrator and consulting company focused on data management solutions. Articulent was acquired by CNT in 2001. He is known for his ability to reposition organizations, reversing flat or declining revenues and leading companies into new strategic directions. He holds an undergraduate degree from University of Massachusetts and an MBA from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He serves on the MIT Sloan Alumni Board.

Greg Lotko who was the interim GM will continue his leadership role as VP of development for IBM storage.
