Permabit SANblox Appliance Sold by EMC

Through licensing agreement with National Association of State Procurement Officials and Western States Contracting Alliance

Permabit Technology Corporation announced that its SANblox appliance is being sold by EMC Corporation through its licensing agreement with National Association of State Procurement Officials and the Western States Contracting Alliance (WSCA/NASPO), a program that enables governments and schools across all 50 US states, as well as the District of Columbia and the five organized US territories, to purchase IT and services under cooperative contracts.

EMC offers storage products, SAN infrastructure products and backup, recovery and archive solutions, and services as part of a master price agreement with WSCA/NASPO so that purchasing entities can order products appropriate for their needs. Through its reseller partnership with Permabit, EMC is offering the SANblox appliance, installation and support as part of its WSCA/NASPO agreement to provide public agencies and educational organizations with an appliance for new and existing EMC FC SANs.

The SANblox appliance, which leverages Permabit’s Albireo VDO and HIO/s compression software, provides ‘plug and save’ data reduction across a wide range of applications, including mixed virtual server, VDI, database (OLTP and data warehouse) and big data environments. EMC customers who purchase SANblox can increase the effective capacity of their SANs by 6X, drop effective cost by up to 85% and increase performance by up to 400%.

We are thrilled to extend our relationship with EMC Select Program and make SANblox available under EMC’s WSCA/NASPO affiliation,” said Tom Cook, CEO, Permabit. “SANblox is the qualified deduplication and compression appliance for EMC FC-attached storage arrays. Making SANblox available through the EMC WSCA/NASPO procurement process ensures that public sector organizations can now optimize storage capacity and drive down storage costs.
