FIPS 140-2 certification (Federal Information Processing Standard) is an independent testing and verification process conducted by the National Institute of Standards for Technology (NIST), demonstrating the storage device is trustworthy to store highly sensitive information and exceeds the demands of security regulations. NIST is an accredited, trusted third-party lab that tests various levels of the encryption within the USB device to certify its ability to secure data. HDD300 and SSD300 meets Level 2 FIPS security standards.
