HDDs with composite housings

The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “Improved hard disk drives of the invention comprise a composite housing, wherein the composite housing comprises a base and a cover, wherein at least a portion of the composite housing comprises a laminate of at least one rigid plastic layer and at least one metal coating. Methods for forming the same are also disclosed.“
The patent application was filed on April 28, 2011 (13/096,524).
