London-Based Law Firm Leigh Day Using Quorum onQ Appliance and Archive Vault

QuorumLabs, Inc. (Quorum), in instant DR, announced law firm Leigh Day is using its onQ appliance and Archive Vault to protect and replicate its data.

The solution allowed the London-based firm to recover multiple files and continue its backup.

From helping Kenyan victims of torture to fighting the cause for clients who have suffered medical negligence, Leigh Day is  an UK 300-strong firm working internationally for the rights of individuals against governments and corporations, from its office in Clerkenwell and Manchester.

The firm turned to Quorum and UK Covenco Recovery Services Ltd, in online backup service, for a backup solution that could accommodate the organisation’s growth and provide a more predictable pricing structure than the existing pay-by-capacity solution. Alongside Leigh Day’s growing data concerns, as a legal organisation any data backed up had to comply with regulatory bodies such as the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and the Data Protection Act (DPA) in order to safeguard and protect claimants’ interests.

Quorum has deployed three onQ appliances at Leigh Day’s HQ in Clerkenwell, which supports 20+ servers. The onQs take a snapshot of the local production server every 30 minutes, backing up and replicating the entire server estate. For added resilience Leigh Day also opted for the Quorum Archive Vault. This archives the snapshots on a monthly basis and the firm has also opted to mirror the entire solution to an offsite data centre.

The Quorum solution maintains highly available up-to-date VM clones of Leigh Day’s critical systems. It also keeps ready to run ‘Recovery Nodes’ standing by which can be activated with a single click in the event of a server failure.
