Emergency Communications Network Embraces Kaminario K2 All-Flash Array

To improve data center performance and support public warning systems during severe weather and natural disasters

Kaminario Technologies, Ltd announced that Emergency Communications Network (ECN), North America provider of emergency and mass notification systems, has replaced its conventional disk-based storage systems with Kaminario’s K2 all-flash array to improve data center performance and better assist with handling peak workloads in mission-critical environments.

ECN is a SaaS-based provider of high-speed emergency notification systems to clients all over the world, including federal, state and local governments, healthcare facilities, energy and utility companies, financial institutions, and more. Its technology is used daily to alert, inform and save lives. Founded in 1998, ECN relies on advanced infrastructure and capacity spread across three secure data centers to support its growing user base and send alerts to landlines and cell phones through phone calls, text messages, emails and social media. As its footprint has grown, it turned to K2 to dually address their growing business requirements while continuing to promise performing reliable services.

After surveying the market and performing multiple POCs, ECN chose K2 for its enterprise fault tolerance, K-RAID, dual controller architecture and the ability to scale up and scale out as needed. Under mixed workloads, each node in the tested K2 array (also known as K-blocks) delivered 250,000 IO/s, more than 3.2GB of throughput and sub 0.5ms latencies for database applications.
