Xerox Assigned Patent

Network access to storage devices connected to multi-function devices

Xerox Corp., Norwalk, CT, has been assigned a patent (8,832,340) developed by Christine Mary Miyachi, Andover, MA, and Chandra Sekhar Varma Dasaraju, Rochester, NY, for a “system and method for enabling network access to mass storage devices connected to multi-function devices.

The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “A system for enabling at least one mass storage device connected to at least one multi-function device to be accessible over a network, includes at least one processor; and a computer-readable storage medium in communication with the at least one processor, wherein the computer-readable storage medium comprises one or more programming instructions for receiving a plurality of requests from one or more electronic devices permitted to access the at least one multi-function device and allowing the one or more electronic devices to selectively access and modify electronic information located on the at least one mass storage device connected to the at least one multi-function device and accessible over the network.”

The patent application was filed on Jan. 28, 2011 (13/016,309).
