This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on October 15, 2014 at 3:04 pmIBM System Networking SAN24B-5 is designed to meet the demands of virtualized, private cloud storage environments by delivering an entry-level switch with 16Gb FC technology and enterprise functionality.
Following features enable flexibility and investment protection:
- Up to 16Gb/s with 12 to 24 ports in 1U form factor
- PoD capability for scaling from 12 to 24 ports in 12 port increments
- 2, 4, 8, or up to 16Gb/s on all ports, producing an aggregate up to 384Gb/s full-duplex throughput
- 16Gb/s optimized Inter-Switch Links (ISLs) with trunking of any eight ports for 128Gb/s ISL
- Exchange-based Dynamic Path Selection (DPS) for optimized fabric-wide performance and load balancing by automatically routing data to the most efficient and available path in the fabric
- Server connectivity and SAN scalability by offering dual functionality as either a full-fabric SAN switch or an N_Port ID Virtualization (NPIV) enabled Access Gateway
SAN24B-5 can address demanding reliability, availability, and serviceability requirements to help minimize downtime to support mission-critical cloud environments:
- Configuration through EZSwitchSetup wizard
- Diagnostic Port (D-Port) feature for physical media diagnostic, troubleshooting, and verification services
- Resiliency with nondisruptive software upgrades and optional redundant power supply
- Streamlined deployment and troubleshooting time with dynamic fabric provisioning, critical monitoring, and diagnostic features
The IBM Systems Networking SAN b-type switch family supports FC connectivity for servers and storage.
SAN24B-5 requires Fabric OS level 7.0.1, or later. The new 2498-X24 base switch comes loaded with FOS v7.2.0 or later.
