WatchDox Introduces Content Connectors for Cloud Storage Services

Google Drive connectors out soon, others to follow

WatchDox, Inc. announced the availability of Cloud Content Connectors, which extend its data-centric protections to files created or stored in cloud storage repositories.

It enable users to access and share their files from a single interface across all platforms. It will soon offer its cloud content connector for Google Drive with additional services forthcoming.

The service for Google Drive allows users to send a file to any recipients using WatchDox data-centric protections, including access controls, watermarking and tracking. Similarly, users can see Google Drive as one of their repositories alongside their own WatchDox workspaces, sync folders, SharePoint, file shares and anything else that’s connected. To ensure security, it only allows one-way traffic from Google Drive into WatchDox.

Today’s enterprise users create, share and store content across multiple platforms and repositories, but not all services meet enterprise security or productivity needs,” said Ryan Kalember, chief product officer, WatchDox. “WatchDox Cloud Content Connectors provide a single pane of glass to access and secure all enterprise content, whether a file sits in Google Drive, on a network file share or on a desktop. This not only creates productivity efficiencies, it also enhances existing content security with our data-centric protections.

It provides several additional productivity and security benefits, including:

  • Secure external sharing – provides any level of control, including full digital rights management, watermarking, and revocation from any device, for files shared outside the organization.
  • Mobile productivity – enables mobile productivity with the ability to annotate, edit and stream files from every repository.
  • Syncing – Content Connectors are built to do syncing of metadata, enabling WatchDox to preserve access and permissions without copying files to the WatchDox server. Unlike other connectors built with older technologies, this work offline and keep files in sync even when they move or are renamed.

Cloud Content Connectors are part of the EFSS solution, which allows users to access, view, edit, annotate, sync and share files from any device. The Google Drive connector will be available soon.
