The announcement comes a day after Apple’s iPhone 6 and Apple Watch press event, where iCloud was noticeably absent from the conversation, most likely due to concerns that the recent security issues surrounding the service.

So, will this price decrease be able to convince regular users to pay for cloud storage?

For iOS users, iCloud offers great integration with your device, out of the box, however, other services, such as Dropbox and MediaFire, are offering many of the same features (such as automatic photo and video syncing) at a much lower cost.

For Android Users looking to get the new iPhone, we would recommend that they look closely at ‘platform agnostic’ solutions for storing their data. While iCloud may be tempting, there are more affordable options available that work with both platforms.

So, given the state of the cloud storage market, how do prices currently stack up?

The answer: with 1TB of cloud storage for just $2.50 per month, MediaFire currently offers users the most bang for their buck.
