Hutchison Global Communications Adds Cloud Backup Service for Enterprise to Portfolio

Hutchison Global Communications Limited (HGC), the fixed-line division of Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings Limited, announced the one-stop enterprise-grade Cloud Backup.

This Backup-as-a-Service offering enables enterprises to backup files, OSs and enterprise applications securely, flexibly and cost-effectively.

Pay-as-you-go daily charge model facilitates efficient use of resources
Cloud Backup service supports a range of brands and generations of OSs, applications and cloud platforms. Enterprises are able to backup volumes of data from dispersed offices on or off site in order to free up IT staff to focus on strategic issues. Just like other cloud solutions from HGC, Cloud Backup offers flexibility – this time by virtue of a pay-as-you-go daily charge model. Such an approach satisfies the needs of enterprises large and small by facilitating efficient use of resources.

This new offering comes with an easy-to-use online self-service portal and enables volumes of data to be compressed, while eliminating duplicate blocks to reduce backup time and storage space needed. Customers benefit from a boost to operating efficiency because they can retrieve and restore specific data whenever necessary – without the need to recover the entire contents of a backup.

Dual data centre backup and replication solution planned
Scheduled for launch later this year, Cloud Backup service will be enhanced by addition of backup replication. This will enable enterprises to maximise availability of data by backing up critical information at both the Wong Chuk Hang and Kwai Chung data centres.

Data centres offer safe and reliable backup environment
Backuped data is carried by HGC’s fast and stable network and stored at HGCGC data centres designed according to the TIA942 tier-3 standard. Alternatively, enterprises can opt for a private leased line for tighter cloud security. HGCGC’s facilities are accredited with ISO 27001 information security management certification and benefit from 24/7 monitoring by HGC’s network operations centre in order to meet the mission-critical demands of myriad industries.
